Investigators determined that the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction reimbursed Area Day Reporting Program for Youth, Inc. (Area Day) in excess of its Executive Director's actual time and effort. Additionally, Area Day's Finance Officer owned the taxi company that provided its student transportation services and this may have resulted in excessive transportation costs. Lastly, Area Day's computer equipment was not properly accounted for to prevent loss or theft.
