The results of our audit disclosed items that are considered reportable under Government Auditing Standards. Specifically, the Public Schools of Robeson County (School District) did not use approximately $1 million per year in Medicaid administrative reimbursements to provide services to students with disabilities in fiscal years 2011-2013, as contractually required. Additionally, the School District understated reimbursable expenses and missed out on more than $364,000 in Medicaid reimbursements. The School District and the Department of Public Instruction generally agreed with our findings and recommendations.
