The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a paid intern that is willing to learn on the job and gain hands-on, experience in the field of auditing through serving within our Office. In this internship you would have the opportunity to contribute to current OSA audits, conduct research on state agencies and programs, and get the chance to attend a variety of auditee meetings.

Who was Auditor Ralph Campbell Jr?

Auditor Campbell made history as the first African American to hold an executive office in North Carolina. Auditor Campbell attended St. Augustine’s College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He earned a degree in Business Administrative from St. Augustine’s College and served in the United States Army Reserve from 1971-1977.

Auditor Ralph Campbell dedicated his life to public service. His career spanned various government roles, including serving on the Raleigh City Council, before being elected North Carolina State Auditor in 1992. As State Auditor, he was a trailblazer, through modernizing the office by equipping staff with both desktop and laptop computers and championing a fully digital auditing system.

 

Qualifications

  • Rising senior or graduate student majoring in accounting (or related program) from an accredited/college or university with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
