The objectives of the audit were to compare the standard course of study and teaching methods for hearing impaired students to those of other states, examine admissions criteria and graduation requirements, compare performance of students at the Schools for the Deaf with deaf and hard of hearing students in the public schools, ascertain whether the work/school environment met applicable health and safety standards for the staff and students, examine organizational structure and staffing levels, and review operations for adequacy of controls and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
