Who is Auditor Beth Wood?

Auditor Beth Wood

Auditor Beth Wood made history on January 10, 2009, when she became the first woman to serve as North Carolina’s State Auditor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Carolina University and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

After entering the accounting profession, Auditor Wood gained experience in the private sector before joining the North Carolina State Treasurer’s Office. She later moved to the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA), where she worked in the training division under State Auditor Ralph Campbell Jr. Her time at OSA inspired her to run for the role herself, and she was elected State Auditor in 2008, where she served through 2024.
