State Auditor’s Office Launches New Transparency Effort with Internal Budget Dashboard “By opening access to our office's spending, we’re leading the charge to create a more transparent government in North Carolina.” – State Auditor Boliek

To deliver better government transparency to North Carolinians, the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) has published a new budget dashboard to its website.

The first-of-its-kind dashboard features a breakdown of OSA’s revenue sources, expenses, and spending by vendor for state fiscal year 2025. Items displayed include how much the office received from audit fees, the amount of state funds carried forward to the following year, and expenses including payroll and software services.

Since taking office, State Auditor Dave Boliek has pushed for more detailed public resources to enhance accountability and transparency.

“By opening access to our office's spending, we’re leading the charge to create a more transparent government in North Carolina. This resource is easily accessible online and should be a new standard of government transparency,” said State Auditor Boliek. “The Office of the State Auditor has a mission to hold government accountable, and that includes shining a light on our own office."

The dashboard will be updated periodically, allowing the public to analyze trends and compare spending over time. All of OSA’s public dashboards can be found on the OSA website under a new dashboard tab.
